DuongLam ancient village is in Ha Tay Province and about 65 km west of Hanoi. This village has been known as a museum of laterite with ancient houses aged up to 400 years old. In Duong Lam Commune, visitors can see famous relics such as Mia Pagoda, Phung Hung Temple, Ngo Quyen Temple and Mong Phu communal house.
Mia Pagoda was built during the Tran Dynasty before 1632 and still preserves many ancient artifacts.
Mong Phu village is the biggest and the most famous village of Duong Lam Commune. Here, visitors also can see ancient houses and small lanes as well as everyday life of residents.
Duong Lam Village is also well –known for the birthplace of the two kings Phung Hung and Ngo Quyen, the two heroes led resistance wars against China's Sung and Southern Han troops to recover national independence. After their death, the local people built temples to worship the Kings.
Duong Lam ancient village is a tour to trace back the origin of Vietnam's culture and Vietnamese traditions and a great chance to explore the special architecture through its surviving laterite brick ancient houses. Laterite and mud, the two materials that are abundant in the area, on house walls, gates, wells, temple walls, and so forth.
